About this Event
Inspired by the world-renowned, climate-resilient plantings at The Ruth Bancroft Garden in Walnut Creek, horticulturalists Cricket Riley and Alice Kitajima will present their new book “Designing the Lush Dry Garden”.
Cricket Riley is a Bay Area landscaper who specializes in lush but low-water garden design. Co- creating the Dry Garden Design Certificate program with Alice Kitajima, Program Director at The Ruth Bancroft Garden, their leadership has inspired countless home gardeners to embrace a minimalist approach to water-use.
Minimalist watering but maximalist style in the garden!
Cricket and Alice’s “Power Player Plants” will help you select plants to build a climate-resilient garden oasis, rich with habitat for pollinators, and layers of foliage and flowers that won’t give up when the going gets hot. Learn what materials and plants can be combined for a lush tropical feel, with a fraction of the water bill!
Showcasing plants that thrive in hot and dry climates with little to no supplemental water, you’ll be able to enjoy the dog days of summer, fall, (and… winter?) without turning your garden into a gravel graveyard.
