Design Your Own Card Game Workshop
About this Event
Does your child love Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, or strategy card games? In this 5-session, hands-on workshop, students (ages 11+) will learn how great card games are designed while creating one of their own.
Students will explore probability, addition, multiplication, scoring systems, and game balance as they develop strategic thinking, logical reasoning, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Through brainstorming, designing, playtesting, and refining their ideas, they'll experience the same iterative design process used by professional game designers.
Students will:
- Learn the design principles behind popular card games
- Apply math concepts such as probability, addition, multiplication, and game balance
- Strengthen strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- Design, playtest, and refine an original card game
- Take home a playable game they created themselves
No prior game design experience is required.
This event is proudly sponsored and hosted by the Huntington Learning Center in Cupertino. Thanks to their generous support, the registration fee is just $20 for all five sessions.
