Prince William County Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR) is excited to partner with Amazon and KABOOM!, a national nonprofit organization, to create a new all-inclusive playspace at George Hellwig Memorial Park. Join Prince William County Parks & Recreation, Amazon and KABOOM! on Wednesday, August 5 for a Design Day Workshop where you and your child(ren) will help us design the new playground at George Hellwig Memorial Park! Your support is essential to making this project a success.
During this workshop:
- You'll learn more about the project and how to get involved to turn the kids’ dream play spaces into reality
- Kids and adults are invited to share their visions for the new playground design at George Hellwig Memorial Park in Manassas
- You can sign up to join the planning committee that will meet weekly leading up to Build Week (October 2026, official dates to be announced)
- Light refreshments will be provided
Design Day Workshop Timeline
🖍️ Kid Design Session (1 Hour): The Project Manager from KABOOM! will lead a fun activity with kids who will design and draw their dream playground. Crayons and drawing pads will be provided.
✏️ Adult Planning and Design Session (1 Hour): The Project Manager from KABOOM! will share a PowerPoint presentation to community stakeholders, adults, parents and any other community members who want to learn more about the planning process and help design the new playground.
🎉 It's a Party!: Light refreshments and fun activities for the kids will be provided.
