About this Event

The El Paso Community Foundation invites you to an evening celebrating art, culture, and community with Desert Rinpa, a solo exhibition by acclaimed local artist Mitsumasa Overstreet.

Desert Rinpa is an ode to the landscapes of the American Southwest and the cultural influence of Overstreet's Japanese ancestry. Inspired by the 17th-century Japanese Rinpa school, the exhibition blends traditional techniques with the flora of the Chihuahuan Desert, creating a powerful exploration of heritage, place, and connection.

A recipient of the City of El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department's Artist Incubator Program, Overstreet is recognized for creating public art that fosters learning, healing, and community engagement. His work has been exhibited throughout the Southwest and includes large-scale public installations across El Paso.

Guests are invited to enjoy complimentary drinks and light refreshments, meet the artist, and experience this unique exhibition firsthand. Artwork from the collection will also be available for purchase.

Admission is free and open to the public.

We hope you'll join us for this special evening at the El Paso Community Foundation.
