Cities and water ratepayers across Iowa are spending $66 million A YEAR to remove factory farm and industrial agriculture pollutants from our drinking water.
Iowans deserve clean drinking water. Let’s demand that polluters clean up their act!
Join us on Thursday, June 25, at 2:30pm for a municipal water treatment plant tour followed by snacks and strategizing at the Des Moines Biergarten.
We'll tour the Des Moines Water Works treatment facility and learn about local water sources, the treatment process, and how Des Moines is dealing with the spike in nitrate runoff from this spring’s rains.
After the tour, we'll head to Water Works Park to debrief what we learned and ways to fight back to get factory farm pollution out of our drinking water! Our movement has made Iowa's water crisis national news and an unavoidable issue for Federal, State, and Local lawmakers. We'll discuss how to carry forward this momentum in our organizing and continue escalate to win real solutions!
Note: The tour will last 2:30-4:30pm, followed by a brief organizing meeting. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the Biergarten.
