Join the Minority Association of Pre-Med Students (MAPS) for an inspiring afternoon with Dr. Latimore, Yale School of Medicine’s Deputy Dean for Collaborative Excellence.
Dr. Latimore, a nationally recognized leader in medical education and diversity advocacy, will share insights from his groundbreaking research on microaggressions in medical training, their impact on student well-being, and strategies to overcome systemic barriers. Attendees will gain valuable tools for fostering equity and empathy within medical and academic environments.
Following the keynote, Dr. Latimore will host “Pathway to Medicine 101”, a practical session designed to demystify the medical school admissions process. From crafting compelling applications to navigating interviews, this presentation will empower attendees to take the next step in their pre-med journey with confidence.

Dr. Latimore will share his research and experiences advocating for awareness of microaggressions, particularly toward individuals from marginalized communities and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. He will highlight how such experiences can impact depression rates, transfer rates, and medical school dropout rates. He will also provide strategies and solutions for navigating these challenges as pre-medical and medical students.
