About Kevin Yeary:
Judge Kevin Patrick Yeary has served as a Judge on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals for more than 10 years. He was first elected to the Court in 2014, and then he was re-elected in 2020. He is the only currently serving judge on the Court who previously worked for the Court as an attorney. During the Court’s 1991-1992 term, Judge Yeary served as Briefing Attorney to the late Honorable Judge Bill White. After his clerkship year, he worked as a defense attorney in private practice and then, later, for nearly 20 years, he served as an Assistant District Attorney for Dallas, and then Harris, and then Bexar Counties, in their appellate divisions.
Judge Yeary has prepared a has filed briefs in, and argued cases before, both the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals and the Texas Supreme Court. He has filed briefs in cases before the United States Supreme Court. He regularly lectures and teaches on matters related to criminal law and appellate practice. He currently serves as the Court of Criminal Appeals’ liaison to the State Bar of Texas Criminal Pattern Jury Charge Committee. And he also serves on the board of the Texas State Law Library. He is a graduate of the St. Mary's University School of Law.
