About this Event
If Dennis Cooper has a long history of involvement with The Poetry Project community, Derek McCormack feels as if he ought to. McCormack’s The Well-Dressed Wound turns fashion designer Martin Margiela into the Devil; his Castle Faggot stars a Count Chocula-like villain in a scat amusement park filled with the bodies of decomposing gays. In his novels, short stories, poetry and films, Cooper’s sentences stage both scarcely imaginable and terrifyingly familiar human relationships, at the edge of possible language and intimacy. The Poetry Project is thrilled to welcome both to our stage this October 2 in the Sanctuary at St. Mark’s.
Tickets to this special event are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Please join us at 7pm for a reception before the reading!
Dennis Cooper is the author of 10 novels, most recently I Wished (Soho Press, 2021). A collection of his short fiction, Flunker, was published this summer by Amphetamine Sulphate Press. His third feature film, Room Temperature, co-directed with Zac Farley, is forthcoming late this year. He lives in Paris and Los Angeles.
Derek McCormack's most recent books are Castle Faggot (Semiotext(e)), a novel, and Judy Blame's Obituary (Pilot Press), a collection of essays. His other books include The Well-Dressed Wound and Grab Bag. He lives in Toronto.
