Denim & Culture Workshop
Bring an old pair of jeans. Leave with something new.
The Denim & Culture Workshop is two days of making, learning and storytelling, where denim becomes a canvas and every stitch carries a story. Bring the jeans you have outgrown, forgotten or never stopped loving, and with your own hands, turn them into something you will wear, use or sell.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
• Upcycle and embroider denim by hand, guided step by step
• Learn real, transferable skills you can turn into income: upcycling, embroidery and design
• Explore what denim means in our culture, and how to make it your own
• Work alongside other makers, creatives and mothers in a small, hands-on room of about 35 people
• Walk out with a piece you made yourself, and the confidence to make another
WHY IT MATTERS
Every year, good fabric ends up in landfill. Here, it gets a second life. This is circular fashion in practice: old denim and old narratives turned into something new.
WHO IT IS FOR
Anyone who wants to learn. Beginners, hobbyists, young people, designers and future small business owners are all welcome. No experience needed, only curiosity and a pair of jeans.
WHERE YOUR TICKET GOES
The workshop is part of Jeans for Joy, a six-month campaign for Single Mothers Safe Haven (SMSH) Trust. 70% of every ticket goes directly to equipping single mothers with the equipment and start-up packs they need to start their own businesses. You learn a skill, and a mother gets the tools to start earning.
