DEN Triennial Full-Scale Exercise
About this Event
Help us test our skills during a simulated emergency!
Join us in person at Denver International Airport on August 19, 2026, for an exciting full-scale exercise where an emergency is simulated, responded to, and evaluated to test Denver International Airport and their stakeholders’ operations in response to a major aviation incident.
Who Can Participate
Anyone! You do not have to be an emergency professional or a DEN employee to participate.
For every role, expect a full day commitment. If you can not commit to the full timeframe, please do not register. No late arrivals are able to be accommodated.
How to Participate
It takes a LOT of people to put this on. There are several roles from which you can choose.
Controllers -
- 6:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Assigned to specific area to facilitate element of exercise.
- Prior experience required.
Evaluators -
- 6:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Assigned to specific area to evaluate responses to exercise.
- Prior experience required.
Day-Of Volunteer (Logistics Support) -
- 5:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Assist with set-up, tear-down, registration, escorting, etc.
- Different Day-of volunteers have different start times depending on the role. We will follow up to ask what roles you'd be most interested in.
- For example: Registration Day-Of Volunteers need to arrive at 05:30 and can leave by 09:30, but Tear Down volunteers don't need to arrive until around 12:00)
Actors -
- 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Assigned a role in the simulation.
- May be required to lie on rugged terrain for extended periods of time and will be exposed to the day's weather conditions.
- Please wear weather-appropriate clothes that you are ok with being damaged, torn, or soiled.
- Actors assigned to indoors may be required to begin the day outside and will be exposed to the day's weather conditions for a period of time.
Observers -
- 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Register to observe the event as a spectator
- Must arrive by 7:30 a.m. Late arrivals cannot be accommodated
- NOT for media. Media must coordinated with DEN's Global Communications and Marketing team
Locations
- The event takes place at Denver International Airport at two primary locations: the airport airfield, and the airport family and customer care center (at an indoor location).
- Please indicate your location preference when selecting your role.
Important Notes
- Registering for a specific location or exercise role will increase your chances of volunteering in your specified location and/or role but will not guarantee it.
- You may be re-assigned as needed to meet the needs of the exercise.
- You will be notified of any changes to your registration prior to the day of the exercise.
- And again, if you can not commit to the full timeframe, please do not register. No late arrivals are able to be accommodated.
