Session Objective: Enhance and build a knowledge of dementia, increase confidence and provide a finite understanding of dementia to support people living with dementia in the Crawley area.
The session will cover:
- What is Sage House and what services do we deliver and ways we support people
- A delegate activity to focus on the individual perception of dementia
- What is dementia, includes full brain illustration to demonstrate functionality and complex cognitive processes that impact on people living with dementia
- Deep dive into the characteristics of Alzheimer’s – Vascular – Lewy body dementia – Frontotemporal dementia Young Onset dementia with accompanied variants that may develop, together with discussion on the 200 types of dementia.
- Risk factors and prevention that science now confirms
- Dementia inclusive environments, safe space, colour and signage
- Communication and language: Appropriate language to achieve positive outcomes
- Reducing anxiety and what can exacerbate symptoms for people with dementia
- What can you do to support people to live better with dementia
