Delbert Anderson Quartet

Diné (Navajo) Jazz trumpeter and composer, Delbert Anderson is a leader and innovator in today’s contemporary jazz scene and a Diné culture bearer. His work brings traditional Diné “spinning songs” into the modern world, capturing their essence through the languages of jazz and funk. Supported by visionary multicultural jazz fusion drummers and bassists, Anderson creates safe havens for Diné melodies to engage with various musical styles, opening pathways for rich expression. His compositions are deeply rooted in the timeless Diné principles of Hózhó (harmony, beauty, and balance with self, others, and nature) and K’é (kinship) and by intertwining these principles with contemporary genres, he forges connections across cultures while maintaining a signature sound that honors centuries of tradition. Embodying the strength and continuity of Diné cultural heritage, Anderson’s work resonates with a universal audience. Tonight, his quartet features Robert Muller piano; Evan Suiter, bass; and Khalill Brown Drums. Beyond their performances, the Delbert Anderson Quartet is dedicated to fostering cross-cultural understanding through outreach, education, and wellness workshops.
