Defeye Academy - Filmmaking Taster Session

A fun, hands-on filmmaking workshop for young creatives aged 14–18.

In this 2 hour session students will work together to plan, film and edit their own short movie — guided by a professional filmmaker.

No experience needed.

What they’ll learn

• Camera skills
• Storytelling and directing
• Acting and teamwork
• Basic film editing

What they’ll create

A short film made in a single session.

We’ll screen the finished film at the end of the workshop.

Directions for Venue

The event will take place at the wonderful new Open Hūs loft space on Saltergate in the town centre. Next door to Gasoline Pub through the second arch with Saltergate Yoga sign above. Head down to the back left side and look out for a door with metal stairs. The entrance will be marked with a sign. No on-site parking, several nearby public carparks.
