Deer Resistant Gardening with Native Plants

Losing your garden to deer can be exceptionally frustrating, but there are many native plants that are not only deer-resistant, but also beneficial to other native wildlife. Learn about the white-tailed deer and a great palette of native plants that they tend to avoid. An activity will be included on how to design a native plant garden that is deer resistant and beneficial to birds and pollinators.
Drawing on his years of experience creating landscapes that are both beautiful and ecologically beneficial, Bennett will share practical tips for selecting and combining plants that thrive in Ohio gardens.

Bennett has been working professionally in horticulture for 16 years but has played in the garden since he was 5, gardening in Arizona, Ohio, and South Carolina. He holds a BS in Regional and Urban Planning, minoring in Landscape Architecture, from Miami University and has an Associates Degree in Landscape Horticulture Technology from Cincinnati State. He has written for Ohio Gardener magazine and worked for garden author Denny McKeown. Bennett’s main goal is to empower people to create spaces that are beautiful, inspiring, and in harmony with the natural world.
