Deer Hub SW - Venison Exmoor Game School Session

Join us for a unique and immersive Exmoor Game School experience! We've partnered with the fantastic Deer Hub South West to give children and families a firsthand look at the journey of their food, connecting farming and nature in a memorable way.
The day will begin with a special Exmoor Game School session focusing on local deer. We'll explore why and how we manage deer on Exmoor, taking you through the entire process from a whole carcass all the way to a tasty venison burger!
It's a fantastic day out that you won't want to miss!
This session will look at the preparation and eating of seasonal, local game that is available to us depending on the time of year - in this instance we’ll most likely be using a Roe Buck. These sessions are very much about learning and information, we are not here to tell people what they should and shouldn’t be eating…there is enough of that kind of thing already and none of it is particularly useful.
These sessions will involve the use of knifes, fire/stoves and we will be skinning and butchering game animals. It is a necessary part of the learning process and we do it with the utmost respect for the quarry we're eating. The children can get as involved as they like or watch and learn, there is absolutely no pressure for them to do anything.
This is a funded session so no cost to you, if you’d like to make a donation on the day to support what we are doing then that would be most welcome but not required.
All children MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
These sessions are super popular and book up quickly - we do operate a waiting/reserve list but this is ONLY for the session in question. We just don’t have admin capacity to roll it over.
