Join us for a guided place-based scavenger hunt featuring audio recordings from Newtown Creek whisperer Lisa Bloodgood, Newtown Creek Alliance’s Gus Perry, Siling Hogshead Ranch co-founder Gil Lopez,artist Liz Ensz and a special AR installation from Everything Good Studio.

We’ll begin at the start of the Newtown Creek nature walk and hear meditations of glacial time as we walk down the ship hull’s path to the creek, where you’ll be invited to listen to various voices on the creek, learn past stories and present stewardship from Newtown Creek Alliance, discover your own haiku along the word bridge, and find a virtual feast from the future, constructed in augmented reality by Everything Good Studio.

Head over to lesser known Penny Bridge for , a collaboration of many of our friends doing deep time work and rituals of care at the origin point of the largest underground oil spill in the nation.

Join an immersive performance at this glimmering ecological fragment named Penny Bridge in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Become the voice, movement and witness of the soils and waters of the Newtown Creek through Butoh-puppetry, sound vibration, live drumming and music. Slow down to meet the ecological rhythms of soil, tree, water, stone and bone.

SOIL:FIELD of Awareness is presented by the New York Butoh Institute, with support from community partners Urban Soils Institute, Noo Arts, North Brooklyn Parks Alliance, Newtown Creek Alliance, Holes in the Wall Collective and grouphug magazine.

Join the Mycelium Choral Project for a One-Day Choir to learn an original arrangement of Joni Mitchell’s, “Big Yellow Taxi”. All experience levels, ages, and identities are welcome. May it spark joy, connection, and a deeper connection to the importance of climate justice work. We’ll sing at the Kingsland Wildflowers Green Roof & Community Engagement Center, concluding our time singing on the rooftop amidst the beautiful flowers growing there. 🌱

Come join in singing the Big Yellow Taxi with the Mycelium Choral Project who will have been learning the song all day; experience the virtual AR Banquet from Everything Good Studio, exploring what used to be, and could be again, from MESPAETCHES, now more known as Newtown Creek; raise your cups, literally or figuratively with libations from Grimm and Brewheister's community garden brew; experience a sensory exhibition by artist Shahira Hammad, working with distributed and often imperceptible living systems within altered ecologies, and more...
