Eduardo Martínez-Leyva was born in El Paso, TX, to Mexican immigrants. He is the author of Cowboy Park, which was published by the University of Wisconsin Press and was the winner of the 2024 Felix Pollak Prize in Poetry, an award for Best First Book of Poetry from the Texas Institute of Letters, a Lambda Literary Award, and the 2026 Kate Tufts Discovery Award. His work appears in Narrative Magazine, The Slowdown, Best New Poets, Poetry Magazine, the Boston Review, and elsewhere. He has received fellowships from CantoMundo, The Frost Place, the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Lambda Literary, and received a Teaching Fellowship at Columbia University, where he earned his MFA. He teaches and resides in Los Angeles, California.

Timothy Steele: From 1975 to 1977 Steele served as a Jones Lecturer in poetry at Stanford. Subsequently, he held lectureships at UCLA and UC Santa Barbara. He is an emeritus professor in the English Department at California State University, Los Angeles, where he taught from 1987 until 2012. He has published four collections of verse: Uncertainties and Rest (LSU Press, 1979); Sapphics Against Anger and Other Poems (Random House, 1986); The Color Wheel (Johns Hopkins University Press, 1994); and Toward the Winter Solstice (Ohio University Press/Swallow Press, 2006). He has published as well as two books about poetry: Missing Measures (1990) and All the Fun's in How You Say a Thing (1999). The latter was recently re-issued by Ohio University Press in a 25th-anniversary edition. Steele’s honors include awards or fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Academy of American Poets, PEN, and the Creative Writing Program at Stanford University.

Karen Kevorkian has taught creative writing at the University of Virginia and at UCLA. Her fifth book of poems, The Body the Distance Traveled, will be published next spring by University of New Mexico Press. Her other books of poems are Here in My Body It Feels Crowded, Quivira, Lizard Dream, and White Stucco Black Wing. Her poems are recently published in New American Writing, Volt, Massachusetts Review, andFour Way Review.

Mandy Kahn is the author of three poetry collections, the most recent of which is Holy Doors (2023). Her poems have been included in the Best American Poetry anthology, featured in the national newspaper column American Life in Poetry, and read on BBC Radio. She has given readings at Cambridge University, the Getty Museum, MOCA, the Barrick Museum, and the L.A. Times Festival of Books. Her concert of immersive poems at the Getty Museum is the subject of a feature-length documentary, and she has received poetry commissions from the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, the Craft and Folk Art Museum, Black Mountain Institute, the Getty Museum, and Bridge Projects. In April of 2026, her work was featured on a billboard in West Hollywood in celebration of National Poetry Month.

In the event that PRS is forced to cancel an event entirely, tickets will be refunded or vouchers offered for a rescheduled event.

PARKING​

We encourage attendees to consider carpooling, walking or biking to events if possible, and please be considerate of our Los Feliz neighbors when parking. Street parking is available on Griffith Park Blvd. and (after 7 PM) on Los Feliz Blvd. Limited parking is available onsite at PRS in the front lot (entry from Los Feliz Blvd. when heading east). PRS EVENT POLICIES

• We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.
• Events are subject to change without notice, including guest speakers and/or performers.
• We encourage you to arrive at least 30 min. before the scheduled event start time to find parking, enjoy the Bookstore and take your seats.
• Please turn off all mobile devices before the show. Talking and texting are not allowed during the events.
• No filming, audio recording or mobile phone recording of events, screenings, concerts or other programs by audience members is allowed without permission.
• There is no smoking permitted on PRS grounds.
• We strongly encourage guests to wear masks to PRS events to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
• PRS allows Service Animals into the facility under ADA and state guidelines. For further details please visit www.ADA.gov. No animals permitted whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support, under ADA guidelines and CA Health Code.
• Please do not bring outside food or drink into PRS events.
• Weapons are strictly prohibited at PRS events.
