Friends near Starkville, we hope you will join us and help spread the word about the first "Making Their Mark" dedication program! The historical marker honoring the first Black legislators from Oktibbeha and Clay Counties will be unveiled in Starkville's Unity Park on Thursday, October 29, at 5:00 PM. Speakers are still being finalized.
The program will feature a dramatic performance by Starkville High School senior Kylin Ellis, who will tell the story of Reconstruction-era legislators Anderson Boyd, Benjamin Chiles, David Higgins, Randle Nettles, and J. Wesley Caradine.
