"JAM Will Dedicate Plaque Honoring the Legacy of Jenks Public Schools"
"Jenks, Oklahoma – Feb.19, 2026 – The Jenks America Museum & Historical Society is making plans to dedicate a plaque that will soon be affixed to a concrete post that has marked the southwest boundary of the original Jenks Public Schools campus for well over a century.
The dedication ceremony, scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. March 28, will celebrate the district’s pivotal role in shaping the educational and cultural landscape of Jenks and its surrounding communities. The post, located at 3rd and Main in downtown Jenks, “stands as a lasting link to the history of Jenks Public Schools and the city of Jenks,” according to JAM President Tadd Bogan. “As a long-standing communi-ty monument, it symbolizes the vital role of education in Jenks and honors the leaders and citizens who have shaped the district’s legacy.”
In addition to Bogan, speakers at the ceremony will include Jenks Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Stacey Butterfield, Jenks Mayor Cory Box and J.D. Newland, president of the Jenks High School class of 1956.
Founded in 1908, Jenks Public Schools now serves approximately 12,700 students at 10 sites, with a dedicated staff of around 1,700. The district’s history is marked by milestones in academic excellence, athletic achievement and community involvement that includes the integration of schools in 1956 and recognition such as the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. The district’s academic and athletic prowess have provided strong incentives for families to put down roots in Jenks.
