Decoding the winning mindset - Dr Dwain Allan
About this Event

Talk Description
You hear it all the time: to be successful, you must have a “winning mindset.” But what exactly is a winning mindset? A team of researchers at the University of Canterbury has been working to answer this question. Their goal? To decode the winning mindset.

This talk presents fascinating new research on what a mindset about winning really is, how this multi-layered concept works, and how it can influence what we pay attention to, what we expect, and which goals we pursue.

Whether you want to win at work, in sport, in study, or in any other endeavour, come along and find out what a winning mindset is, and how you can put it to use in your own life.
Bio
Dr Dwain Allan is a psychological scientist at the University of Canterbury, where he directs Taiwhanga Whakahaere Hinengaro – The Mind Control Lab. He is an expert in success psychology and, at the broadest level, his work focuses on how we can change, direct, and harness the power of the mind to unlock hidden potential and achieve our objectives in an age of unrelenting change. He is especially interested in how subjective mindsets, beliefs, expectations, and meaning systems influence objective outcomes. His lab develops evidence-based tools informed by this research, and he is also a sought-after expert for success-motivated individuals.
