We’ve all been there: the screaming, the wild flailing, the loud, defiant “No!” This parent and caretaker-focused session dives deep into the neuroscience of the temper tantrum, exploring why they happen and how they are a vital opportunity to grow your young child's self-regulation skills that can work to reduce emotional outbursts as they grow older. We will clearly define the difference between a behavioral tantrum and a sensory meltdown, and walk through age-based brain development with practical strategies on how to calm, redirect, and address temper tantrums in ways that build self-regulation skills and can reduce future tantrums.
Children are welcome to join open play opportunities in the library during the session run by East Regional Library staff.
Led by an educator, neuroscience specialist, and mother of 2, Brittany Miller.
