Dec 11 - Weight shifts & walking: Blues concepts to level up your Lindy Hop w/ Nur & Kunal
We’ll explore walking (ballromin’) blues dances to slow jazz music. Within this context we’ll go into pulse and how it relates to leading and following weight shifts in different shapes (side by side, forward and backward, mirrored and matching footwork) and rhythms (one step, two step, hesitations). Leads will work on leading weight shifts clearly, while follows will work on lag and not anticipating movements. We’ll introduce the concept of line of dance to folks as well as a number of moves that can maintain your traveling momentum. Toward the end of class, we’ll provide a sandbox for people to test these concepts in their Lindy Hop (or other swing dance style).
Prerequisite: No experience or partner required!
Dec 18 - Advanced Choreo Challenge w/ Kari & Thomas
Wrap up the year by learning a routine with challenging movements, shapes, rhythms, and steps you haven't seen before. We'll dive into material that's too advanced to cover in our monthly series classes and you can use what you learn for inspiration or for spicing up your social dancing! We'll be focused on learning here, so a performance is not expected.
Prerequisite: You should be a Lindy Level 2 graduate (3+ months) or above or must level test to take this workshop.
Dec 18 - Shag On, Shag Off: Adding Shag to your Lindy Hop w/ Amanda & Zach
Shag curious? Don’t want to fully commit to a shag series because Lindy has your heart? Come learn how to add a few moves to your Lindy!
Prerequisite: No experience or partner required!
