December walk: the Great Ocean Walk (section 1 & 2), Apollo Bay

Starting at the caravan park in Marengo (Apollo Bay), we'll follow the edge of the coast, with sections of beach walking. Then we make a gradual climb into the forest to Elliot Ridge, where we'll stop for lunch where there are picnic tables and toilet facilities. Then we'll follow forest trails to Blanket Bay campground for the hike end point.This is a one-way hike, so we'll need to organise a drop off car or cars (depending on numbers).
If you wanted to make this a shorter walk, you could do just segment one: Marengo to Elliot Ridge:
Distance: 7 kms approx. Time: 3 hrs. Difficulty: Easy to Medium.
Adding segment two: Elliot Ridge to Blanket Bay:
Distance: 12 kms approx. Time: 4 hrs. Difficulty: Easy.
Both segments combined = 19 kms of easy to medium hiking terrain.
The scenery along this section of the Great Ocean Walk is gorgeous and it is one of my favourite segments 💚
