“In a not-so distant future, a crimelord and his stepdaughter have a domestic dispute over possession of a cult leader that they keep locked in their basement. Sound complicated enough? An adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s Salome, with DECAPITATRIX Live Animals Onstage! attempts to break reiterated contemporary social control around desire and eroticism, as Wilde’s words once did in his historical context. DECAPITATRIX stages a perverse ritual communion with the divine in a sterile industrial world oscillating between stoicism and decadence, asking whether sensuality is a road to damnation or whether desire is revolutionary in and of itself.”
