About this Event

Love it or hate it, Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most recognizable grape varieties in the world — and one of the most distinctive, with an electric acidity and unmistakeable pithy, green aromatic streak.

But what are we really saying when we say we like a grape? And if we think we don't like a grape variety, are there any wines out there that might change our mind?

In this tasting, we'll learn how to pick apart the building blocks of the wine in our glass to talk about what it does for us. We'll learn language to help us find new things to drink that scratch the same itch. And we'll taste Sauvignon Blancs from around the world and along a spectrum of style alongside some sauvignon blanc replacements worth considering — including dipping our toes into tasting wine blind.
Our class is hosted by sommelier James Sligh, founder of the Children's Atlas of Wine, an art and education project that maps the people and places growing wine's futures and puts them in context. Tickets include five tastes of colorful wines and an hour and a half class with an interactive component.
