About this Event
We are thrilled to have Natalie Blue and Paul Colombino, both native to RI, return to the At the River Series Holiday Show. Natalie will grace our stage with her soulful voice and stunning original songs and Paul Colombino who will whisk you away with his authentic and exquisite songs on guitar. Hosted by singer/songwriter Mary Pierce she states "so happy to see the Series growing (now in 2 locations) and providing quality, original, and fantastic music of local talent to our community. We have south county neighbors attending as well as people from MA and CT. It is an intimate setting with great music. Come and experience our monthly shows At the River."
Natalie Blue returns for her 2nd At the River Holiday show! Natalie is an accomplished local singer- songwriter who has been playing piano, singing, writing songs for 10 years. A genre of her own, she weaves jazz and pop and her own stories and experiences into every aspect of her music. Natalie shares her authentic self through her lyrics and melodies as her music brings the audience on a journey of emotions and connection. We can’t wait to hear her live At the River!
Paul Colombino
“Inspired by the music of Leo Kottke led to an intense immersion into the intricacies of finger style guitar that continues to this day.” says Paul. The study of classical guitar during his college years added understanding of the instrument as a vehicle of artistic expression, both as a performer and composer.
Paul is beginning to be a household name in RI. His first album, released in 1996 and entitled Everheart, is a collection of original instrumental pieces for solo guitar. The second CD circa 2002 is called A Guitar for Christmas and contains instrumental finger style versions of classic Christmas songs. The third, Once and Again, is a collaboration with long-time friend and singing partner Glen Bottalico. The songs are harmony-infused covers of artists as diverse as Paul Simon, Sandy Denny, Sting, Eva Cassidy and Crosby, Stills and Nash. My latest album, Hello Old Friend, was released in 2019 and is comprised of finger style instrumentals and vocal tunes. Hello Old Friend is available everywhere.
Paul is the International Acoustic Music Award Winner - Instrumental - for his song entitled "Kottke" 2023. We are excited and honored to have Paul as a featured artist At the River as well as a valued band member of Mary Pierce Women Folk.
Founder and Host: Mary Pierce
Mary Pierce, Singer/Songwriter and Narragansett resident, was inspired early on by Irish and American Folk artists. Mary has written and recorded 4 albums: Miles Away, Dublin Bay, Hideaway, Memory Road and is launching her 5th album "Warrior," which brings a compelling force of the strength and courage of women being warriors of love and hope. Her passion for writing, creative energy and her vulnerability emotes through her music.
In 2023, she received the top singer/songwriter award by The Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival and WICN Folk Revival Radio for one of her original songs. Born in White Plains, New York and raised in Connecticut and Rhode Island, her lively music is “inspired by the beauty of nature and the human spirit that shines in all of us and is what connects us all.
“Her soothing, clear voice with Celtic-type qualities, has been compared to Sarah McLachlan, Natalie Merchant, Joan Baez, and Joni Mitchell. Mary has performed in the NorthEast regularly and has recorded with several international musicians. Mary has been performing with her sister, Margi (harmony and piano) for several years and recorded the first album together called "Miles Away.” Mary and Margi’s beautiful, unique and seamless vocal blend is often referred to as ‘the third voice” and their sister bond is captured in each song. Margi and Mary perform regularly in the New England area along with the full band (fiddle, guitar, Irish whistle, piano, harmony.) As their musical collaboration continues to organically evolve, they feel joy and gratitude each time they step on the stage together. Mary’s Music can be found on Spotify, YouTube, iTunes and at www.Musicofmarypierce.com
Mary is the Founder and Producer of the At the River Songwriters Series both at Pettaquamscutt Lake Shores and now a 2nd location at the General Stanton Inn.“I am so excited to experience the growth and inspiration filling the room in the At the River Songwriters' Series each month that began with an idea 16 months ago. It is such an inviting venue with a great vibe and we look forward to hearing talented local artists each month. We are also building community and friendships with our neighbors and like-hearted songwriters here At the River!"
