[BINGE THINKING IN BOSTON]
TOPIC:
Debunking Myths about Skin Cancer and Sun Protection
The Truth Behind the Great Sunscreen Debate

SPEAKER:
Dr. Abigail Waldman, MD, FAAD (Harvard Medical School)

Is sunscreen actually full of toxins? Does sun exposure really cause skin cancer? And can wearing SPF leave you dangerously deficient in Vitamin D?
In an era where viral social media trends routinely outweigh medical science, dangerous misconceptions about sun safety are spreading faster than ever. After all, how do you protect your skin when basic health facts are constantly called into question?

It is time to separate internet fiction from life-saving fact. Decades of dermatological research, molecular biology, and clinical data provide clear answers to the viral claims cluttering your feed.

In this eye-opening talk, Dr. Abigail Waldman dismantles the five biggest sun protection myths head-on, replacing sensationalism with real, evidence-based science.

Addressing the most common myths:

Myth: "The sun doesn’t cause skin cancer"

Myth: "Sunscreen doesn’t reduce skin cancer risk"

Myth: "In order to get enough Vitamin D, you shouldn’t wear sunscreen"

Myth: "Chemical sunscreens cause cancer"

Myth: "I have olive skin, so I don’t need to worry about sun protection"

Beyond the medical noise, this talk is your playbook for navigating health claims in the digital age. Dr. Waldman cuts through the fearmongering to arm you with simple, scientific truths - giving you the power to protect your body's largest organ with confidence.

This talk explores how evidence-based medicine dismantles dangerous myths to safeguard our skin health.
