Following 2025’s popular event, this is another chance to bring the family to a celebration of music, storytelling, dance and poetry in this beautiful community garden. The day starts with a storytelling walk through the garden for children and their families with actor, writer and teacher Naomi Cortes.
There will then be lively music from DMA’s Youth Band and joyful participatory circle dancing on this, World Circle Dance Day, accompanied by the Landmark Show Choir and Captain's Garden's own Scratch Band of musicians!
Rounding off the day, there’s a poetry open mic session under the beautiful weeping tree at the end of the garden.
Bring your deckchairs and picnic rugs and while away the hours – you’re welcome to come for as long as you wish.
10-11am Storytelling walk for children aged 4-10 (children must be accompanied by an adult). Meet by the garden entrance.
11am-1pm Music and Circle dance
1-2pm Poetry open mic session
Please note: The garden has uneven surfaces. Much of it is wheelchair accessible but if you would like to reserve a disabled parking space, please email Alice at [email protected] in advance. There is no public parking but there are spaces nearby.

The 300 year old walled Captain's Garden at Deal Castle will be open to the public on Easter Monday 6th April 2026 10am to 2pm.
The garden which was created in the 1720s for the high ranking Captains of Deal Castle.
The garden then evolved into a kitchen garden in the 19th century and then a market garden in the 20th century.
The Garden went into disuse in 1980 and for the last nine years a group of local volunteers have been working to bring the garden back into community use.
Entrance is free - there is some shed tea & cake, stalls from the Deal Hop Farm and local beekeepers and music from the garden scratch band.
There is no parking at the site.
Our paths are rough woodchip or grass and there is step down at the gate (we have a ramp)
We can be found opposite Deal Castle on Victoria Rd, Deal CT14 7BA
