DEAFHEAVEN
Originally formed in San Francisco, Deafheaven is comprised of vocalist George Clarke, guitarists Kerry McCoy and Shiv Mehra, bassist Christopher Johnson, and drummer Daniel Tracy. The band gained widespread acclaim for their groundbreaking 2013 album Sunbather, which redefined the margins of heavy music, earning esteemed spots on Rolling Stone’s ‘100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time’ and Pitchfork’s ‘200 Best Albums of the 2010s.’
Deafheaven again challenged genre conventions on 2015’s New Bermuda earning widespread acclaim, while their 2018 LP Ord
inary Corrupt Human Love garnered the band their first-ever GRAMMY nomination in the “Best Metal Performance” field.
Always moving forward, the band’s 2021 album Infinite Granite continued their evolution and galvanized with a refinement pointed at lusher textures and lilting melodies. Revered for their transcendental live shows, Deafheaven have toured the world over performing at festivals such as Coachella and Primavera Sound, while sharing stages with everyone from Slipknot and Knocked Loose to Chelsea Wolfe and Mono.
VÆGTLØS
Local heroes Vægtløs will open the show. Honest extreme music with songs about people close to the band that died or are fighting a battle against dying.
Vægtløs focuses on a vulnerability and openness that are lacking in the music scene, but also in society, in general. Life is fleeting and fragile, and Vægtløs is a bridge to gap between the monumental emotional dread underlying the fact that all beauty will eventually die and the cathartic strength found in music.
On the 2nd of Febuary 2024 their debut record Aftryk was finally released, to rave reviews, from all over the world. With top ratings and all positive words in zines as Devilution, Metalized, Heavymetal.dk, Gaffa, Metal Revolution, Selvtægt, Everything is Noise, Dying Scene, Echoes and Dust, Cult of Metal, Idioteq, and more. Some of the mentioned zines called it album of the year.
This show will be the sole Aalborg show on this side of the summer and one of only two shows the band will play before summer.
