Join us for a meaningful and fully accessible museum experience during our upcoming Deaf Day. Professional ASL interpreters will be paired with a Harriet Beecher Stowe House Educator to guide visitors through the powerful history held within these walls.
Guests will explore two pivotal moments in the house’s story — 100 years apart:
• 1840 — When abolitionist author Harriet Beecher Stowe lived in Cincinnati as a young teacher and mother preparing to write Uncle Tom’s Cabin.
• 1940 — When African-American proprietor Irene Bacon operated the home as the Edgemont Inn, a boarding house and tavern proudly listed in the Green Book.
Discover how this space has served as both a literary landmark and a vital center of Black entrepreneurship and community life.
🎟️ Tickets are available on our website or by walk-in and tours start on the hour with the last tour being 3pm.
Your ticket includes admission to our outdoor exhibit and rotating exhibit display.
We look forward to welcoming you for a day of shared history, connection, and accessibility for all!
