About this Event
Deadwood is amazing and it plays a big part in nutrient recycling, acts as a carbon storage system, and helps the stability of woodland soil. It is an important micro habitat for birds, mammals, fungi, plants, amphibians, reptiles, insects and even fish! But sadly, this habitat is under studied and under threat.
We will use The Conservation Volunteer's Dead Good Deadwood survey packet to investigate the deadwood specimens. This involves looking at the organisms living on the surface and inside of the wood which then provides a rough estimate on the stage of decay. We will have an expert from TCV on hand to answer any questions.
