This month features some stellar talent! Shannon will be joined by Sarah Larsen, Kevin Slick, and Brooke Bell! Check out their bios below, and come out for a great night of songs and stories!
Sarah Larsen is a versatile musician hailing from Wisconsin, where she began her musical journey at the age of three under the guidance of her pianist mother. Her classical training laid a strong foundation, but her artistic passion led her to explore genres such as bluegrass, jazz, and swing. Performing under the moniker "Hurricane Hoss," Sarah captivates audiences with her fiddle, banjo, and guitar, sharing stories of her travels and traditional American songs. Her collaborations include working with artists such as Dr. Dog, David Mayfield, Ben Arnold, Saskwatch, Mason Porter, and the Hot Club of Philadelphia. These days, you can find Sarah fiddling with the Black-Eyed Suzies (Maryland’s premier all-girl grass band) and holding down the low end on bass with Geraldine (award-winning original music out of Baltimore). Beyond performing, Sarah is dedicated to teaching violin, viola, mandolin, banjo, and guitar, nurturing the next generation of musicians. Currently based in Annapolis, Maryland, she continues to be an active presence in the local bluegrass scene as co-producer of the Chesapeake Winter Bluegrass Festival and organizer of Annapolis Bluegrass. https://annapolisbluegrass.com/
Since 1985 Kevin Slick has writing, recording and performing an amazing array of music. His original tunes combine the best of traditional roots with contemporary creativity. Slick spent the last twenty years as a vital part of the Colorado Bluegrass scene, also serving as President of the Colorado Bluegrass Music Society. He recently returned to the eastern US, settling in Winchester, VA where he continues to write, record and perform in a variety of roots music settings. https://kevinslick.com/
Brooke Bell is an award winning singer-songwriter based in College Park, MD. She performs her songs as the front-woman in local Bluegrass and Americana band Tornado Rose. Brooke’s angelic voice shines with a crystalline power and clarity belting out lyrics about the battle between good and evil, the alpha and the omega and the collective spiritual connection we all share in the songs she writes and composes. Brooke recently recorded with Dewey Boyd at legendary recording studio Forty-One Fifteen in Nashville, TN and is releasing four of the songs she has written with Tornado Rose in the coming months. Originally from Independence, Kansas - Brooke plays guitar, autoharp and violin to accompany her vocals. Her hit song ‘Wilderwood Flower’ won the prestigious Walnut Valley Festival NewSong Showcase for Best Love Song. Visit www.tornadorose.com for more information.
