DC-05 Training (2 Day) - Wisconsin Dells
About this Event
This 12-hour, 2-session comprehensive training on DC:0-5™ Diagnostic Classification of Mental Health and Developmental Disorders of Infancy and Early Childhood targets clinicians and leaders from fields of mental health, health, and early intervention. This training provides history and background around the need and development of a specialized diagnostic classification systemfor infants and young children as well as approaches in diagnosis from an IECMH perspective which isdevelopmentally informed, relationship based, and culturally responsive. Participants will learn about the multi-axial approach to diagnosis and the contents of each axis including Axis I clinical disorders.

**All attendees must purchase a DC-05 book. The book can be found on Amazon or on the ZERO TO THREE website in the book store section. The cost for the book is around $65 (plus shipping).
Learning Objectives for DC:0-5™ Training:
Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health clinicians and advanced practitioners who participate in this training will:
1. Summarize the history of ZERO TO THREE's efforts to develop a diagnostic classification system for infancy/early childhood
2. Define infant/early childhood mental health
3. Distinguish between the risks and benefits of diagnosing infants and young children.
4. Explain the recommended approach for diagnosing disorders in infancy/early childhood
5. Explain the contribution of ongoing clinical assessment to clinical formulation
6. Identify the Cultural Formulation for Use with Infants and Toddlers Tables included in DC:0-5.
7. Identify DC:0-5 Axes I – V
8. Identify psychosocial stressors that can influence the mental health of babies and young children.
9. Explain the notion of cumulative risk associated with psychosocial stressors.
10. Describe the importance of considering physical health conditions when diagnosing infants and young children.
11. Explain the importance of a relational, developmental, and contextual approach to diagnosis and diagnostic formulation.
12. Name the two essential components of Axis II: Relational Contex
Speaker Bio: Jennifer Wickham, MS, LPC, IMH-E, is the Clinic Director of Sagent Behavioral Health–Eau Claire North and a licensed professional counselor with more than 25 years of clinical experience. Her work has spanned the lifespan, including infants and young children, school-age children, adolescents, adults, and families. Jennifer holds an Infant Mental Health Endorsement and is a ZERO TO THREE DC:0–5 Provisional Trainer. She is rostered in Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), trained in EMDR, and provides reflective consultation to professionals working with infants, young children, and families. Her clinical and training interests include early relational health, attachment, trauma, resilience, and helping children and families build competence through supportive relationships.
