DBOS Monthly Meeting

SAVE THE DATE: We invite you to join us for an informative meeting on Tuesday, July 14, when Gabriel Cuesta from Quest Orchids will be our guest speaker to discuss the development of major lines standard Cattleya hybrids (US), how they came about, the important contributions of species to those hybrids that are the basis for modern Cattleyas, and explain the approach used by hybridizers from the 19th through the 20th century. Gabriel grew up surrounded by orchids in a home on property adjacent to the greenhouses in his parents, Yolanda and Segundo Cuesta’s, orchid business who have been growing plants since 1984. He was brought up and taught in a hands-on environment. After graduating from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), he went full-time into the orchid business and is currently a manager at Quest Orchids overseeing the care, maintenance, and the hybridizing of Quest Orchids Cattleya collection, in addition to his personal collection of plants. What a perfect place to perfect his knowledge and love of orchids! Gabriel will have plants for sale and for the raffle table.
