The North Pole Community Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce the Days of Christmas Past Fundraiser Dinner & Silent Auction, set to take place on August 16, 2025 at 6pm. This special event will be held at Hotel North Pole and aims to support the construction of the new North Pole Welcome Center. The highlight of the evening will be the esteemed presence of Joanie Skilbred, local historian extraordinaire, who will serve as the guest speaker. Joanie, a born and raised North Pole resident, will share the intriguing storyline and images of North Pole. Attendees can also anticipate a delightful appearance by our Santa Claus (Rich).Guests will enjoy an exquisite full-course dining experience, thoughtfully prepared by Crave. Bakery and Coffee. The evening begins with three rounds of flavorful appetizers: a roasted red pepper and tomato soup served with sourdough grilled cheese croutons; delicate crab cakes placed on a bed of Alaskan-grown microgreens and topped with hollandaise; and a Mediterranean cucumber salad with cherry tomatoes, Kalamata olives, and red onion over a bed of feta cheese.
For the main course, guests may choose between braised beef in a rich demi-glace or roasted French onion chicken smothered in savory broth and rosemary. Both entrées will be served with spinach artichoke and parmesan risotto, accompanied by honey-glazed carrots.
To complete the meal, an assortment of cheesecakes will be offered, including turtle, chocolate pistachio, and classic—with the option to enjoy it plain or topped with triple berry compote or house-made salted caramel.
In line with our theme, “Christmas of the Past,” attendees are encouraged to dress in period cocktail attire, with a particular emphasis on life in Alaska during the 1960s. The evening promises not only a memorable culinary experience but also enchanting music and a complimentary commemorative wine glass for each guest.
The purpose of this fundraiser dinner is to create a Welcome Center that will serve as more than just an information hub for visitors. It will empower new residents, businesses, and young people entering the labor force. Additionally, it will provide support for mental health, family resiliency, and the preservation of Alaskan culture, pioneers, founders, and the historic military relationship.
Cost: $100 per person / $175 per couple / $500 Table of 6
