Day Ride on the Washington Secondary Bike Path!

The Washington Secondary Bike Path is Rhode Island's longest, spanning 19 miles from Cranston to Coventry through an abandoned rail corridor. This paved, mostly flat trail connects urban, suburban, and rural scenery, passing through West Warwick and along the Pawtuxet River. It features wooded areas, marshlands, and historical industrial sites, and is popular for both recreation and commuting.

MEET: 10 AM in the parking area located at Riverpoint Park. (GPS 110 Hay Street, West Warwick)

THE GROUP RIDE: We'll bike 10 miles west to the trail's end, have a lunch or snack before biking back to the parking area - total 20 miles. You can then return home or, if you like, explore more of the trail as it heads north to Cranston.

Our lead cyclist will maintain a leisurely pace for those wishing to ride as a group, or you can travel ahead at your own pace.

Participants need to register and sign a liability waiver. Please come prepared with your lunch, snacks, water bottle, helmet, spare tube, and other personal comforts. Please check that your bike is in good working order and tires are well-inflated. We'll provide a tire pump at the start, and will carry basic tools.

Participation is limited to 20 cyclists ready to ride 20 miles on a paved railroad bed.

COST: There is no fee for this bike ride. However, donations to Bike Newport are welcome and helpful. Your ticket will progress with any amount over $1 :)
