The family will be at The Vig from 6-8pm with the silent auction and raffle. Silent auction will start online Sunday and end Monday at 8 pm. 50/50 can be bought anytime from now until June 1st at 8pm.
A little history about Dawson.
2021- Born at 24 weeks, weighing 1lb, 5oz. (Billings, MT)
2022 - At three months, required tracheostomy and feeding tube (Salt Lake)
2024 - Diagnosed with subglottic stenosis, an upper airway swelling, that is delaying trach removal. (Salt Lake)
2024 – New care team found in Cincinnati (Sept.)
2025- Six trips to Cincinnati from January to November for bronchoscopies, double stage trachea reconstruction, stent removal, capping trial and a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. 2026- Capping trial in March
Upcoming
June 2026-July 2026- Single stage trachea reconstruction and trach removal, followed by after- surgery checkups.
The trip to Cincinnati in March went as expected, but not as hoped. Dawson was still unable to pass his trach capping trial due to a section of collapsing airway.
This will require another trachea reconstruction surgery. The family will be living in Cincinnati for a month at the very minimum.
Week 1: He will be having a single stage reconstruction the first week. They will use another rib graft to reconstruct the collapsing airway. Due to the location and type of surgery, they will take the trach out (hopefully for good) during the surgery. During this first week, he will be sedated and intubated in ICU to allow for healing.
Week 2: Dawson will get to start moving around and be moved to the Complex Airway floor. He will also have another bronchoscopy.
Weeks 3 & 4: If all goes well, the family will move across to the Ronald McDonald House to recover the last two weeks. He will also have ongoing bronchoscopies.
He is such a resilient little boy. We are so very proud of him and are excited for him to be trach free this summer!
