Davis Salon Night: Meet and Learn from Local Journalists

Casual conversation and Q and A on the roles local news outlets play in our communities, how many of us can benefit from and support them.

Free, all-ages, salon style casual discussion and Q and A with journalists about the role and importance of local journalism in/near Davis.

In the spirit of Sacramento's California Groundbreakers, we're bringing thoughtful, salon-style speakers, discussions, and nights of fun and games to Davis! We'll kick this off with an evening at Heartscapes Studio, 1738 Pomona Drive, from 6-8 pm. This event is free, all-ages, and open to the public, and we'll provide snacks and drinks.

Thursday, October 22nd will be a discussion on why local journalism - city and community papers, magazines, radio stations, TV programs, etc - is important, and what we lose in regions where our local news outlets close. We'll bring in a few speakers for a casual conversation and Q and A on the roles local news outlets play in our communities, how many of us can benefit from them, why they're at risk, and how we can all support them. Speakers include David Greenwald with the Davis Vanguard, Autumn Labbe-Renault with Yolo Local/KVIE Abridged, and Hanna Nakano from the Davis Dirt :)
