**For tickets that include admission to the discussion, there are SEATED and STANDING tickets:

• For Seated Tickets: Limited quantity is available and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Purchase of a ticket guarantees entrance to the event for the discussion and signing. However, this ticket may not necessarily guarantee a seat at the event, as later arrivals may be placed in a line behind the seated audience.
• For Standing Room-Only Tickets: Limited quantity is available and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Purchase of a ticket guarantees entrance to the event for the discussion and signing. Ticket holders will be granted a standing view from behind the seated audience -- some views may be more limited/obstructed than others.
• SEATED AND STANDING ROOM-ONLY ticket holders will be admitted into the event beginning at 1:30 PM on the day of the event. Please have a copy of your ticket available (either printed out or on your phone) for check-in.

**For SIGNING LINE-ONLY Tickets: Limited quantity is available and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Purchase of a ticket guarantees entrance to the event for the signing, but not a specific place in line.

• SIGNING LINE-ONLY ticket holders will be admitted into the event beginning at 2:00 PM on the day of the event. Please have a copy of your ticket available (either printed out or on your phone) for check-in.

GUIDELINES:

NO PHOTOS will be allowed at this event.

• Any gifts for the author will be collected prior to the signing line.

• Other books by the author will be available for purchase at Barnes & Noble - Boulder.

• Due to health and safety and space limitations, those without a ticket will not be permitted into the event space.

• No memorabilia will be signed at the event.

• No large bags will be permitted into the event.

• Please arrive on time according to your ticket in order to secure your seat in the event space. Late arrivals may only have access to standing room and may not have the opportunity to enter the event space.
• The exact time at which the event ends will be determined on the day. To avoid disappointment, we strongly advise you to arrive on time for the event.

If you are unable to attend the event, Barnes & Noble - Boulder, CO will hold your books for seven days after the event. Please contact the store to arrange your pickup.

Should this event be canceled due to changing COVID-19 concerns, all customers will be refunded their ticket price to the original method of payment per Eventbrite's refund policy.

ABOUT THE LAND AND ITS PEOPLE

In The Land and Its People, Sedaris investigates what it means to be a traveler, a brother, a lifelong friend. Trying on the role of caretaker after his boyfriend Hugh’s hip-replacement surgery, he both succeeds and fails. He covers ground with his friend Dawn and challenges her to eat a truck tire. A ambivalent Duolingo bot becomes his unlikely confidante as he attempts to describe his family in a foreign language. Ever adding to his list of “Countries I Have Been To,” he rides a horse named Tequila in Guatemala, buys a bespoke priest’s cassock in Vatican City, and goes on safari in Kenya without taking a single photo.
Time takes its toll: scrolling through his address book, he counts those he couldn’t bear to outlive, and realizes how many are already gone. He is bitten by a dog and insulted by a wee train passenger. A woman on the street late at night either sexually harasses him or doesn’t. David Sedaris is the author of fifteen previous books, including Happy-Go-Lucky, When You Are Engulfed in Flames, and Me Talk Pretty One Day. He is a regular contributor to The New Yorker and BBC Radio 4. In 2019, he was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
