DAVID GIESEL QUARTETDavid Giesel and his quartet present contemporary jazz full of energy, openness, and lively dynamics. The four musicians from Germany, England, and Sweden bring their individual voices to a sound that is deeply rooted in jazz but also incorporates elements of rock and indie aesthetics. Their debut album Echoes of the Unknown reflects this mixture of structure and openness – music that thrives on groove, subtle timbres, and presence.
At the center is David Giesel – not only as a drummer, but also as a composer. His music is particularly compelling thanks to its catchy, concise melodies that define the band's sonic framework. The compositions combine modern harmonies with clear grooves and straightforward formal ideas without constricting the music. Instead of over-complexity, Giesel deliberately focuses on reduction and transparency – on spaces where interaction, spontaneity, and trust are crucial.
