Davening Liberation Oraciones (DLO) - Ma'ariv Service

Davening Liberation Oraciones (DLO) is delighted to be resuming our regular Ma’ariv evening services at a new location, St. Margaret's Cedar Cottage, at 1530 E 22nd Avenue!

Our kavanah is building a spiritual community that centres radical Jewish inclusion.

We yearn for a space to safely, openly acknowledge and deeply grieve the ongoing horrors being enacted by Israel in Palestinian lands, on Palestinian people, even as we reckon with our own tangled colonial systems on these never-ceded, stolen and ancestral lands of Coast Salish peoples, including the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh.

We rise up in defiance against white supremacy, heteropatriarchy and Zionism, and uplift the Jewish value of pikuach nefesh, the divine spark in every living being.

Join us as we joyfully reclaim Judaism beyond Zionism!

All ages, bodies, genders and experience levels welcome!

With musical leadership from Alexis Kellum-Creer, Ethan Fortes, and rotating participants, the gathering will follow the basic structure of a traditional service - barchu, sh’ma, chatzi kaddish, amidah, kaddish shaleim, aleinu, and mourner’s kaddish.

We invite attendees to bring additional psalms, chants, or readings that feel meaningful.

Printed siddurim will be provided.

We look forward to davening with you!

BEING COMFORTABLE

If you'd be more comfortable sitting on the floor rather than in a chair, please bring a pillow or bolster cushion to support easeful davening.

As our evening service evolves in this new space, we invite your feedback as our services are shaped by the community's enlivening presence.
