Following a memorable performance at Chandler’s House in January, we’re delighted to welcome Dave Gunning back to Rathfriland this September as part of his return to Ireland for a series of special shows.
With over twenty years on the road and fifteen albums to his name, Nova Scotia’s Dave Gunning is one of Canada’s most respected folk singer-songwriters. A multiple ECMA and Canadian Folk Music Award winner, he is celebrated for his warm stage presence, sharp wit, and songs that honour everyday heroes while speaking honestly about the world around us.
Deeply rooted in Pictou County, Gunning’s music tells stories of working people, small-town resilience, and community pride. His live performances blend heartfelt storytelling with perfectly timed humour, creating an intimate and engaging experience that feels both genuine and profoundly human.
Having shared stages with legends such as Ron Hynes, Rita MacNeil, and Matt Andersen, Gunning continues to forge his own path, grounded in craftsmanship and connection. This tour also offers audiences a preview of songs from his forthcoming album, Field Notes, due for release in February 2026. Recorded in Point Lonsdale, Australia, the album marks a return to the stripped-back, emotionally rich songwriting that has long defined his work.
