Dave Anderson - Bass (Smokey Robinson, Michael McDonald, James Ingram)

Dave is excited to bring a new edition of his own creative vision to life, offering both old and new compositions that meld World Music, 60’s/70’s jazz, Minimalism, and Progressive Rock into a kaleidoscope of soundscapes and grooves. For more information about the project, as well as itinerary, bio, discography, and more: daveandersonbass.com

Bassist Dave Anderson brings an all-new group to La Zingara for his debut as a leader here, after years of appearances at the venue with The Jones Factor, Tim DeHuff, Arthur Lipner, and others. Dave is widely known as the top freelance bassist in CT, and one of the top players in the greater NY area, having performed for many years with the likes of Art Garfunkel, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Smokey Robinson, Michael McDonald, James Ingram, Rory Block, Kate Taylor and numerous others in pop/rock/ R&B – as well as jazz artists like Bill Evans, Chieli Minucci, Hiram Bullock, Andy Snitzer, Nelson Rangell, Marion Meadows, Jeff Kashiwa, Joe Beck, Regina Carter and a raft of others. Additionally, he’s appeared on over 100 records as a studio session musician, performed in two Broadway shows, and toured the world, taking the stage in over 35 countries. Dave’s new project for 2025 is a presentation of his own music, joined by some of his favorite musicians. With his busy schedule as a hired gun for others over the years, Dave managed to make time to offer his own jazz/fusion unit, The Dave Anderson Group (1998-2016), and The New Dinosaurs, a trumpet-based electronic/tribal/improv power trio (2011-2019). Now, he’s excited to bring a new edition of his own creative vision to life, offering both old and new compositions that meld World Music, 60’s/70’s jazz, Minimalism, and Progressive Rock into a kaleidoscope of soundscapes and grooves. Premik Russell Tubbs - Woordwinds (Carlos Santana, John McLaughlin, Herbie Hancock)

Among our world’s most talented multi-instrumentalists, Premik Russell Tubbs, is a virtuoso master of soprano, tenor and alto saxophones, all genres of flutes, as well as lap steel guitar. He is renowned for his brilliance which spans all arenas from jazz fusion to traditional eastern mellifluous melodies, to his own ingenious soul-infused improvisation. Premik is a skilled innovator and prolific artist whose unique approach brings both a cosmic and spiritual vibe to the sound he projects.

In his early years, Premik was greatly influenced by and had the privilege of studying with saxophonists Joe Allard and Ornette Coleman. He is a composer, recording artist, producer, and instructor whose distinctive career has been flourishing for five decades.

He has toured the world, has performed and/or recorded with Carlos Santana, John McLaughlin and The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Whitney Houston, Regina Belle, Sting and Trudy Styler’s Concerts for the Rainforest at Carnegie Hall, Herbie Hancock, Clarence Clemons, Jean-Luc and Clara Ponty, Scarlet Rivera, Ravi and Anoushka Shankar, Krishna Das, Lonnie Liston Smith, Lady Gaga, Elton John, Billy Joel, James Taylor and the list goes on.

Rob Aries - Pianist (Average White Band, Bill Evans, Liza Minelli) Rob Aries toured and recorded with artists such as guitarist John Scofield, the "world jazz" group Special EFX, R&B band Change, saxophonist Bill Evans, Brazilian pianist Eliane Elias, and singers Liza Minnelli, Melba Moore, and Freddie Jackson. He also produced and co-wrote several songs on saxophonist Donald Harrison's CTI release "The Power of Cool", and played and composed for the late saxophonist Cornelius Bumpus’s CD "Known Fact" on Palmetto Records. Rob currently tours with the Average White Band.

Rick Quintanal - Drums (Don Ellis Orchestra, George Duke, Kenny Rankin)

Rick Quintanal majored in music at the University of California at San Jose, studying drums with maestro Eugene Graves, as well as Anthony Cirone, who was the principal percussionist with the San Francisco Symphony, and Chuck Brown, a leading San Fransisco Bay area teacher whose students included Terry Bozzio and David Garibaldi. He was an assistant teacher in Chuck Brown’s studio for five years. Rick has performed and toured with the Don Ellis Orchestra, George Duke, Kenny Rankin, and Jorge Santana’s Malo, and has worked in both the Los Angeles and San Francisco recording scenes with various artists. He is currently performing in Connecticut with Crystal Cymbalogy, Otis and the Hurricanes, and Terra Coda. Rick has been teaching for over forty years and started with School of Rock teaching drums in January 2019.
