Free Public Lecture - "Cutting Through Big Tech Propaganda: The Real Science and Truth Behind Data Centers (and Flock Cameras)"
Hyperscale AI data centers are invading Michigan—and with them, a flood of industry talking points and Big Tech propaganda about jobs, local tax revenue, and supposedly "clean" methods like the closed-looped systems. Meanwhile, surveillance technologies like Flock Safety cameras are quietly spreading through our communities with little public debate, being one of the leading examples of the technology driving forward the data center pandemic across the United States. These lectures intend to separate fact vs. fiction; science from the Big Tech propaganda; the truth behind data centers from industry talking points.

We will be joined by two speakers: (1) Dr. Mitchell Ryan Distin, biologist/ecologist, candidate for State Rep. in the 104th District, and frontline organizer in Michigan's data center fight, as well as (2) Samantha Zuiverink, a former Federal Compliance Officer who knows the ins and outs of the energy sector and data center development in Michigan. Mitch intends to set the stage on the scientific context behind data centers and what we're seeing across Michigan, while Samantha can back it up with industry nuances and more technical questions.
This event is free and open to the public.
