This event forms part of The Data Lab's 10th Anniversary celebrations which will see us take our ever-popular Data & AI Meetup across Scotland throughout October and November.
Join us at ONE Tech Hub in Aberdeen where we’ll be exploring the the role of data & AI technologies in climate, energy and net zero.
From using data visualisation, modelling, and real-time simulation to inform architecture, urban regeneration and land management, through to optimising and monitoring energy usage and tracking carbon emissions, the potential for data & AI to enhance capabilities in this sector are immense.
Each of our expert speakers will begin with a short presentation about the unique applications of data & AI technologies in their field, before a panel discussion and audience Q&A.
You can also expect plenty of opportunities to network and connect with your local data and AI community as we showcase some of the fantastic work going on throughout the country.

Speaker bios:
Dr. Emmanuel Ogungbemi, Head of Data Engineering – Ofgem
Emmanuel Ogungbemi is a seasoned data professional with extensive expertise in data science, data engineering, and data architecture. Currently leading the Data Engineering team at Ofgem, Emmanuel has played a pivotal role in the technical delivery of strategic data platforms that support advanced analytics and machine learning capabilities.
As a leader, he is committed to fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within his teams, consistently pushing the boundaries of data utilisation to enhance business outcomes. Emmanuel looks forward to sharing insights from his recent projects and discussing his career journey to inspire and guide future data and AI professionals.
John Isaacs, Dean, School of Computing, Engineering and Technology.
John is Dean of the School of Computing, Engineering and Technology at RGU and as such is responsible for the strategic planning and future direction of the University’s activity in this area.
John’s principal research interest lies in visualisation, modelling and real-time simulation in aiding the comprehension of complex information. He has developed interactive visualisation platforms which have been applied to several fields, including urban regeneration, demographic change, land use management and pollution control. These projects investigate how visualisation can be used to allow better engagement and understanding in any decision-making process through more effective use of both existing and novel hardware and software.
