About this Event
This course is specifically for learning how to effectively assess risk of domestic abuse, stalking, harassment and so-called Honor-Based Abuse using the DASH risk indicator model.
This specialist course is only for professionals who are required to undertake DASH risk assessments as part of their role.

Covered within this course is how to identify, assess and respond to risk using the DASH risk indicator model. Building from lessons learnt within previous training this course includes;
- Further developing an understanding on the experience of Coercive Control (CCB), identifying CCB and understanding CCB within the context of risk.
- Further developing an understanding of The Serious Crime Act, Section 76
- The typologies of Domestic Abuse and the dynamics of Domestic Abuse
- Stalking, harassment and So Called Honour based abuse.
- Understanding what high risk Domestic Abuse indicators are and how to assess risk clusters. (How certain risk factors interact with one another)
- Completing the DASH risk indicator assessment - how to articulate and evidence risk associated with Domestic Abuse.
- The importance of appropriate information sharing and understanding the experience of risk as a pattern, not isolated incidents.
At the foundation of all our DASV training is an understanding and awareness of controlling and coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship.
Booking conditions
Pre course learning activities and requirements:
- You will need to have completed Level 2 understanding coercive control or you can demonstrate that you have completed other domestic abuse training and/or are an experienced practitioner.
- Review the DASH checklist, become familiar with the questions and consider why we are asking these questions. You will be asked to feedback your learning in the live course.
- Familiarise yourself with the process and the pathway of making a MARAC referral within your organisation. The trainers will ask for examples of the process.
- Watch the SafeLives – What is a MARAC video.
- Research the legal definition of Domestic Abuse as set by the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.
- Research what the statutory definition of so-called Honour based abuse is as set out in the Crime and Policing Bill.
- Research what the law is in relation to Coercive Control which is set out under Section 76 of the serious crime act. The Trainers will be asking for your feedback on your research.

Participants are expected to have their camera on throughout the duration of the course. Visual cues play an important part in the facilitator being able to recognise how delegates are feeling and to monitor the wellbeing of the group. Keeping cameras on also encourages engagement and communication; This is an interactive course with activities throughout.
Laptop sharing between attendees within the same workplace is not permitted. Each person attending the training must be signed up individually and using their own device. We offer bespoke group training, please contact us if you feel this would best suit your organisation.
Cancellations can be made through your Eventbrite account, or via 'Manage my booking' on the original booking confirmation. Non attendance and failure to cancel your booking will result in an email sent to your line manager with details of the missed session, and the commissioning team will be made aware of repeat non-attendance.
