Join emerging fiber artist Yasemin “Yaya” Isaacs for an approachable and community-centered exploration into the art of visible mending. Through simple darning techniques, participants are invited to repair, reinforce, and reimagine well-loved garments while learning how care, sustainability, and storytelling can exist through stitch.

Guests are encouraged to bring clothing or textiles in need of a little extra love; socks, sweaters, denim, tote bags, worn elbows, tiny holes, or treasured fabrics all welcome. Together, we’ll explore how repair can become both a practical skill and a creative act of preservation and self-expression.

This activation embraces slow making, sustainability, and the beauty of extending the life of objects that move through our everyday worlds.

✨ Materials include:
• Embroidery floss & yarn
• Darning needles
• Hoops & darning mushrooms
• Fabric scraps & reinforcement materials
• Scissors & stitching tools

No prior sewing experience required. Whether you’re learning for the first time or simply looking to stitch alongside others, this drop-in experience is designed to feel welcoming, low-pressure, and creatively restorative.

📍 Arrival Notes: Guests may enter through the front lobby doors and will find The Shiny Shop just inside the first door past the lobby. You’re also welcome to knock on our windows from the outside of the shop if you need help finding us — we’re happy to wave you in.
