Explore Bangor’s dark side and take a walk amid the shadows during the Bangor Historical Society’s Darker Mount Hope Cemetery Tour, Friday and Saturday, October 24 & 25, 2025.
As the night deepens while you meander the paved paths, a cast of living souls will regale you with dramatic, moving, touching, mysterious, and even spooky stories —sprinkled with a bit of history, of course— about the permanent residents of Mount Hope. This nighttime walking tour of one of the oldest garden cemeteries in the country is a seasonal favorite.
Tours are conducted on foot and are no more than one mile, but may include stairs, hills, and uneven terrain. Sturdy footwear, warm clothing, and a flashlight are recommended. Tours are conducted rain or shine.
Tickets are $20.
Advanced Tickets are required and are sold for specific start times, starting at 6 pm.
Tickets will go on sale to the public at noon on Friday, October 10th. Reserve your spaces early!

Guests should enter Mount Hope Cemetery at 1048 State Street, Bangor, and check in near the Superintendent’s Lodge at no sooner than 20 minutes before their departure time. Parking is available along both sides of the cemetery entry road, accessible via the State Street gate.
