RAZED IN BLACK
Hailing from the island paradise of Hawaii, RAZED IN BLACK was hitting hard in Honolulu’s dark underground since the 90s. Meshing hard-edged electronics, pulsating rhythms, heavy guitars, and emotionally driven vocals, multi-instrumentalist Romell Regulacion produced this project that caught the eye of LA’s well-known gothic industrial label Cleopatra Records who then released its debut album along with multiple full-length albums, eps, and singles to follow. Gaining worldwide exposure, RAZED IN BLACK has graced the land of the rising sun, JAPAN,
on stage and with exclusive releases, as well as albums licensed to Europe and other countries to line their shelves.
“CYBERIUM” was of the first tracks that held a grasp on listeners. The blend of genres with aggression and danceability landed on more than a dozen releases. “OH MY GOTH!” and it’s various remixes made a huge impact on the dancefloor from dark alternative clubs to even on a deejay’s setlist at Ultra Music Festival in Miami. RAZED IN BLACK’s cover of Metallica’s “DAMAGE, INC.” takes the song into a cyber direction. Metalheads have commented this cover brought them over to the industrial side.
Lending his talents to remixes and covers, RAZED IN BLACK makes appearances on more than 100 compilations. High-profile artists include remixes for Berlin, Gary Numan, Missing Persons, Switchblade Symphony, and more. His covers have graced tribute albums to The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, and more. He has often switched hats as producer, guest guitarist, or vocalist for other bands. Moving things a step further he started another project called Transmutator taking a more breakbeat/electronica direction, making its home on Hypnotic Records and Dolphin Entertainment (Japan). Even further, Romell put the instruments down to grace the turntables as DJ RIB co-headlining as a deejay alongside names like Alice Deejay, Carl Cox, Dj Evil, and more, as well as releasing nonstop mix albums like Dark Trance vs. NeoGoth, Gothika, This is NeoGoth, and more.
Music has also been featured on TV shows like WB’s Mission Hill, CW’s Hellcats, NBC’s Homicide:Life on the Streets, as well as movies like Mystery Men, Carrie 2: The Rage, Ginger Snaps, MR73 (France), Strange Life:The Breech, even video games like Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam and THQ’s VS. Taking RAZED IN BLACK to the stage Romell on vocals, guitars, and programming is joined by Hawaii locals Ivan Delaforce of the hit broadway show Stomp on drums, Conor Haley and Danny Laforga on electronics, and former YTV Canadian TV show host and wrestler Pj Phil on guitars.
