2 DAYS CELEBRATING DARKNESS
With the DARK ATMOSPHERES FESTIVAL Nightmare Culture wishes to pay homage to the part of the underground music scene, where darkness in its many forms is a major inspiration.
Furthermore we have included two talks, that in different ways are related to this darkness. The intimate location of “The Industrial Cathedral”, Ewii House, serves as the perfect location for this celebration.

Of The Wand And The Moon (DK)
Of The Wand And The Moon is one of the biggest names on the Folk Noir scene and has toured most of the world. The band has won great recognition in both national and international press for their innovative approach to Dark Folk, and has a long list of releases behind them, but especially from The Lone Descent from 2011 onwards they have been praised as being innovative. A National Danish newspaper, Politiken, for example, described The Lone Descent as "a breathtaking sound of industrial strength and human vulnerability breathed into the twilight of neofolk."
On their latest album “You Cant Hold The Wreath Of Sorrow” they explore new musical directions with evident inspiration from the legendary Lee Hazlewood, making them stand out from other bands on the dark folk scene.

Arcana (SE)
The festival's other headliner is Arcana from Eskilstuna in Sweden, whose musical style can be described as a mix of darkwave, medieval, ambient and neoclassical with a beautiful melancholic and ethereal sound with a nod to the legendary Dead Can Dance. They were formed in 1993 by Peter Bjärgö and have since been among the leading bands of their genre.
Arcana disbanded in 2014 but have reunited and are currently working on a new album due in 2026.

In Slaughter Natives (SE)
In Slaughter Natives is an industrial/dark ambient/neoclassical project created in 1985 by Swedish musician Jouni Havukainen. Since its first release in 1988 and through a subsequent line of important albums, the project is widely regarded as one of the prime innovators of the martial industrial and death industrial subgenres. In Slaughter Natives is associated with the legendary Swedish record label Cold Meat Industry and among the very first artists released by them.

Vril Jäger(DK)
VRIL JÄGER is Kim Larsen (OF THE WAND AND THE MOON) and Thomas Bøjden (DIE WEISSE ROSE) and is an intense experience live.
Cloaked in camouflage uniforms, VRIL JÄGER preach their gospel of a black nirvana and the death of this world to a soundtrack reminiscent of shifting tectonic plates, spinning prayer wheels and a humanity lost in utter madness. Through the cracks of this world, a pitch-black darkness and nothingness unfolds. This is the sound of VRIL JÄGER burying this world with the most nihilistic agenda: no fun, no compromises and no easy listening!

Mars(DE)
The German apocalyptic folk duo Mars, named after the Roman god of war, has developed a distinctive, powerful and archaic sound since their formation in 2011, especially on the three key albums: ‘Blood is the Food of the Gods’ (2014), ‘The Seeker’ (2017) and ‘The Dark River’ (2024). Inspired by mythical, spiritual and pagan motifs, the two musicians mix acoustic guitar, percussion, exotic instruments, mystical sounds and two voices in a way that is unique in the dark underground. Although the duo is undoubtedly indebted to the British apocalyptic folk music of the 1990s, elements of occult and shamanistic ritual music, Americana, and occasional doom and black metal riffs can also be found.

Sophia (SE)
Sophia was formed in 1998 as a side project to Arcana, but with a much more hard hitting, harsh and industrial sound than the main project.
The band has released 6 albums and a number of EPs with titles such as “Unclean”, “The Age of the Narcissist” and “Deconstruction of the World” , titles that with extremely pessimistic clarity and raw brutality show how far out and shitty the world has gradually become.
Live Sophia will be Peter Bjärgö and Cecilia Bjärgö.

Sacral Wound(DK)
Sacral Wound is a new dark ambient/ritual project.
Who the mastermind behind Sacral Wound is remains for the time being a mystery.
However, we have received a description of Sacral Wound as a project that inhabits the threshold where the sacred and the perverse cease to be opposites and instead reveal themselves as twin reflections of the same consuming flame. A wound that bleeds—raw, unguarded—it opens not to heal, but to expose. One incision leads inward, a passage to the soul; another descends into the depths of creation itself, carrying a mute and ancient mystery.
We look forward to experiencing that.

Marcus Stiglegger (DE)
Prof. Dr. Marcus Stiglegger is a researcher and lecturer at the University of Mainz in Germany.
He has written and edited several books on film history and aesthetics. He has written on topics and genres such as seduction in the film medium, genre theory, westerns, war films, modern horror, and on directors such as David Cronenberg, Dario Argento, Akira Kurosawa, Lucio Fulci, and John Carpenter. In addition to his research work, Marcus Stiglegger has created extra material for the Blu-ray releases of classics such as Twin Peaks, Fire Walk With Me, Irreversible (2002), and Angst (1983).
Marcus Stiglegger`s talk will be about occult films.

Carl Abrahamsson(SE)
Carl Abrahamsson is the author of over 20 books, many of which deal with his many decades of work with occultism and magic. He is also the editor and publisher of the occult journal "The Fenris Wolf" (1989-present). He lives with his wife, the American psychoanalyst Vanessa Sinclair, in Vimmerby, Sweden.
The lecture for the festival will be about the book "Meetings with Remarkable Magicians – Life in the Occult Underground", which is a magical memoir of meetings and insights, covering work with Thee Temple OvPsychick Youth (TOPY), OTO, Church of Satan and other groups, as well as wisdom and teachings from friends and allies such as Genesis P-Orridge, Anton LaVey and Kenneth Anger.

Med DARK ATMOSPHERES FESTIVAL ønsker Nightmare Culture at hylde den del af undergrundsmusikscenen, hvor mørke i dets mange former er en stor inspiration.
Derudover har vi inkluderet to foredrag, der på forskellige måder relaterer sig til dette mørke.
Den intime lokation "The Industrial Cathedral", Ewii House, fungerer som det perfekte sted for denne fejring.

Den tyske apokalyptiske folkduo Mars, opkaldt efter den romerske krigsgud, har udviklet en karakteristisk, kraftfuld og arkaisk lyd siden de blev dannet i 2011, især på de tre nøglealbums: ‘Blood is the Food of the Gods’ (2014), ‘The Seeker’ (2017) og ‘The Dark River’ (2024). Sacral Wound er et nyt dark ambient/ritual industrial projekt. Hvem hjernen bag Sacral Wound er, forbliver foreløbig et mysterium. Vi har dog modtaget en beskrivelse af Sacral Wound som et projekt, der befinder sig på den tærskel, hvor det hellige og det perverse ophører med at være modsætninger og i stedet afslører sig selv som to refleksioner af den samme fortærende flamme Et snit fører indad, en passage til sjælen; et andet synker ned i selve skabelsens dybder og bærer et stumt og ældgammelt mysterium.

Marcus Stiglegger (DE)
Professor Dr. Marcus Stiglegger er forsker og underviser ved Mainz Universitet i Tyskland.
Han har skrevet og redigeret adskillige bøger om filmhistorie og æstetik. Han har skrevet om emner og genrer som forførelse i filmmediet, genreteori, westerns, krigsfilm, moderne gyser og om instruktører som David Cronenberg, Dario Argento, Akira Kurosawa, Lucio Fulci og John Carpenter. Udover sit forskningsarbejde har Marcus Stiglegger været med på ekstramaterialet til Blu-ray-udgivelser af klassikere som Twin Peaks , Fire Walk With Me , Irreversible (2002) og Angst (1983).
Marcus Stigleggers foredrag vil handle om okkulte film.
Carl Abrahamsson (SE)
Svenske Carl Abrahamsson er forfatter til over 20 bøger, hvoraf mange omhandler hans mange årtiers arbejde med okkultisme og magi. Han er også redaktør og udgiver af det okkulte tidsskrift "The Fenris Wolf" (1989-nu).
